Herb Alpert School of Music - California Institute of the Arts | 2021 – 2024 Special Faculty in Music Composition
- Instruction:
- Taught undergraduate coursework, including foundations courses Orchestration [MCMP402], Musicianship Skills A (MTHY101), and Undergraduate Composer’s Forum [MFOR101], as well as original seminars Disco: Emancipatory Dancefloors [MHST498K] and Queering Musical Symbology [MHST698J].
- Curriculum Design & Assessment:
- Designed and executed comprehensive syllabi for core undergraduate courses including Musicianship Skills A and Orchestration; administered and graded assessment materials and exams for 80+ students annually, addressing topics such as counterpoint, aural perception, score literacy and theoretical fluency.
- Mentorship:
- Maintained an active studio for undergraduate and graduate composers working across concert music, vernacular musical forms and interdisciplinary media, fostering technical fluency and professional development.
- Integrated Music Technology:
- Instructed students in the functional use of digital tools for composition, offering technical mentorship in DAWs (Pro Tools, Ableton, Logic), sound synthesis, mixing techniques, sound design, live performance with electronics, and multimedia synchronization.

- Informed and guided the strategic direction and curricular policies of the D.M.A. program in collaboration with the dean and department heads, translating institutional vision into actionable program goals.
